Zach is in the 7th grade at the Austin Jewish Academy, where he began in the very first Kindergarten class. He is described by his teachers as an intelligent, mature and articulate leader and by the Cantor as a truly righteous dude. He loves sports, music, and hanging out with friends.
Zach has worked very hard preparing for his Bar Mitzvah and as part of his preparations, selected a Mitzvah project that he has become passionate about. The theme of his community project is kids helping kids. To that end, he is working with Lifeworks to not only raise money, but more importantly, to raise the level of awareness for this truly stellar organization devoted to helping kids in need. Lifeworks is a local organization that provides shelter, counseling and life skills to homeless kids. Most of these kids are teenagers – some even the same age as Zach. May 14th is especially important to Zach. Not only is it the day of Zach’s Bar Mitzvah, but it is also the day of the grand opening of a new Ben & Jerry’s partnership store in downtown Austin that will be owned and operated by Lifeworks. Zach participated in the planning and preparation of the grand opening.
After the Saturday Luncheon, we hope you will join Zach at Ben & Jerry's for the Grand Opening Party. It will be a great activity for all age kids!
